The W.N TOWLAN near Munising, MI. with a load of wood on Radium, one of the fleet's derrick barges. With an oil pump  mechanical problem on the port engine, the Captain Roger Harrison chose to take shelter behind Grand Island and make the repair on a rough Lake Superior day. This delay had the crew several hours late getting in the lee of the Minnesota coast before the next round of Northwest gales hit. The trip was a bit rough but fortunately everything worked out.
