VOYAGES

Northwest Passage

The USCGC BRAMBLE left Miami, FL in May of 1957 headed for Seattle, WA via the Panama Canal. On July 1, 1957 she left Seattle, WA along with the cutters SPAR and STORIS heading for the Atlantic traveling through the Bearing Straits and Arctic Ocean. Traveling for 64 days through 4500 miles of partially uncharted waters, the vessels finally reached the Atlantic Ocean. The BRAMBLE returned to Miami, FL on December 2, 1957. These three surface vessels were the first to circumnavigate the North American Continent, an ambition mariners have had for more than 400 years.

Operation Snowbird

A mission of over 12,000 miles from December 1997 through April 1998. This mission was to help in the training of marine police in 10 Eastern Caribbean nations. Aids to navigation and joint law enforcement in Venezuela were also performed.
