The USCGC ALDER is one of the most technologically advanced vessels on the Great Lakes. Incorporating the latest developments in Satellite Navigation and Computer Control Systems. With this the USCGC ALDER can accurately navigate in the most extreme weather conditions of the Great Lakes. Aids to Navigation projects are greatly improved by this ability with the vessel having an ability to automatically "maintain station" within a 5-meter circle.

The Bridge itself offers a clear view of operations on the entire vessel, fore and aft.
