History of the Light : Another one of the four Great Lakes towers constructed from the same plans. The Wind Point Light is another of  the "Tall Five" Great Lakes towers all constructed from the same plans with the classic "Poe" style and is similar to the Grosse Point Tower.

The light was first lit in 1880 using a Third Order Fresnel lens. It is constructed of brick on a stone foundation. The light tower is white with a green lantern and foundation. It was automated in 1964 and still operates as an active aid to navigation.

The Keepers quarters are sometimes use for town meetings, and a care taker resides here now. The site is open to the public.
