Buffington Breakwater

Height : 50 feet

Access : Boat, on breakwater. 

History of the Light : The red, conical steel light tower stands on a round concrete crib at the end of the harbor breakwater. The foundation is surrounded by rectangular blocks of limestone. The ten sided lantern room houses a beacon which creates a lens focal plane at 48 feet above low water datum. The lighthouse in privately maintained and represents the typical early 1900's pierhead light tower design.
