History of the Light : In 1872 the first light appeared at the entrance to the Black river. The original light was replaced in November of 1903 with the light now present. The cylindrical steel structure has a base diameter of 11'-6" and was fitted with a Fifth Order fixed Fresnel lens. The active light now houses a Sixth Order glass beacon.
