Access : Car, with parking near the Light and a short walk down the pier head. US-31 ends at Hwy-10, head West into Ludington. Keep heading West and you will see the Light.

History of the Light : During the beginning of the this century, Ludington was home to the largest privately own fleet of ships in the world. These ships where ferry's carrying railcars and passages across Lake Michigan to Wisconsin and back. A little known fact is that the distress call S.O.S. was made up for the ferry's that found themselves in distress, and is now used world wide. The Ludington Lighthouse was a welcome site for the ferry's that braved the open waters of Lake Michigan. Today the S.S. Badger car ferry, offers passengers and their vehicles for a shortcut across Lake Michigan. Ludington provides a small town atmosphere with plenty of lodging, shops and eateries.
