Beaver Head Light

Beaver Island, MI

Built: 1852

Construction: Cylindrical, Brick

Status: Inactive

Location: Southern end of Beaver Island

Height: Approximately 50 feet

Access: Car - ferry runs from Charlevoix to Beaver Island, for more information call (616) 547-2311. Boat - transportation available from St. James Harbor docks.

 

You can climb to the top of this lighthouse for a breathtaking view of lake Michigan.

Lighthouse History :  This Lighthouse is at the Southern tip of Beaver Island  marking the Western approach into the Straits of Mackinac from Northern Lake Michigan. The light has been decommissioned with a radio beacon now at the site. It is now owned and used by the Charlevoix public school system as an environmental education center. You can tour and explore this lighthouse.
