Port Hope, MI

Construction :  Conical, Brick

Location : ( MI ) North of Port Hope, Eastern tip of the thumb

Lighthouse History :  Overlooking the waters off the tip of Michigan's thumb, you can see why a Light was needed here. A rocky shoreline and shoals go quite a distance out from shore. This Light is a warning to stay away. It is also the first Light seen by ships traveling from the North across Saginaw Bay. A very nice maritime and shipwreck museum is located in the Lighthouse. To the North of the Lighthouse is a nice Park overlooking the Lake and to the South is a peaceful campground. It is said a young lady ghost resides at the Lighthouse.
