Lighthouse History : During the construction of the large breakwater for Buffalo harbor, an additional navigational aid was needed to take over the use of the inner Light. Like all the Buffalo Lights, this one to had it's share of bad luck. During 1958, the freighter "Frontence", while making a sweeping turn in the harbor, swung around a collided with the light with great force. The light was pushed over 20 feet giving it a list of 16 degrees. In 1961 a skeleton tower was built, and the famed "Leaning light of Buffalo" was demolished.
