History :
This beautiful memorial was constructed
from 1912 through 1915 to commemorate Oliver Hazard Perry and the American victory of the Battle
of Lake Erie. It is constructed of 80,000 cubic feet of pink granite and
stands 352 feet tall. This makes it the third tallest monument in the
United States of America and is managed by the U.S. Government as a
National Park.
Local
Attractions: Visitors can tour the monument to enjoy it's beautiful
architecture. You may take an elevator to the observation level at 315
feet ( 95 meters) above lake level. This will give you a spectacular
view of Lake Erie where the battle took place along with the many nearby
islands.
