Since
1804, when the first of hundreds where built in
the Great Lakes, Lighthouses have been guiding ships around traitorous shores, reefs and
shoals to distant fresh water ports. Even today, with
all the modern navigational tools, such as radar and G.P.S., the
Lighthouses still play a vital roll in safe passage of any vessel
that sails the Great Lakes. Here you will find a seemingly endless
resource of historical information and photography of the many
Lighthouses in the Great Lakes Region along with various others
throughout the world. Also included are various Lightships that were predecessors
to many of these lighthouses.
Our information is thoroughly
researched with feature stories posted regularly so be sure to visit
often. |
