Lake
Huron is 247 miles long, 183 miles across, and 750 feet deep.
Around her shores are approximately 40 Lighthouses. The oldest Lighthouse
in Michigan, Fort Gratiot is at the Southern end near Port Huron. Lake Huron also has
approximately 1300 ship wrecks scattering her shores and depths. In
November of 1913 a three day storm took 19 ships to the bottom. Many
of which were lost here in Lake Huron from 90 m.p.h. winds and 40
foot waves.
