Lighthouse History : This lighthouse was established in 1871 with construction completed in 1872. The construction consists of a stone foundation with a cylindrical brick tower that stands 115 feet tall. Attached to the tower is a rectangular, brick workroom. The Lighthouse is finished in white markings with a black lantern and trim. Constructed on a cliff, the tower reaches to 150 feet above the ocean. In 1892 the original lens was replaced with a First-Order Fresnel. It was automated in 1974 and still remains as an active aid to navigation.
