Lighthouse
History :
This lighthouse was established
in 1926 exhibiting a Third-Order Fresnel lens. The construction consists of a
concrete foundation with a cylindrical concrete tower that stands 67
feet tall. The Lighthouse is finished with white markings.
Constructed on a cliff standing 100 feet above the ocean, it can be
seen for 20 miles with it's current 1.1 million candlepower light. It
was automated in 1973 and still remains as an active aid to
navigation.
Lighthouse
Mystery : A lady ghost, who's lover was lost at sea, is said to
take residence in the tower. Occasionally there are ghost like
figures seen when the light is rotating at night. Actually
these figures were created by the Fresnel lens as it directed light
toward the ground in a confusing array. |
